Hey, y’all! If you’re a BBQ fan, there’s no better place to visit than Western Kentucky’s Bluegrass, Blues, and BBQ Region. On your trip out west, do note that there’s big flavor lodged in rural Waverly, Kentucky — and it comes in the form of mutton, pulled pork, ham, and ribs. Peak Brothers BBQ is a Union County legacy and is not to be missed!

Pro tip: go hungry.

Peak Brothers BBQ: Waverly, KY

Peak Brothers BBQ started in the mid 20th century. Founded in 1948, Barker and Buddy Peak started the business with a mission: to serve some of the state’s best BBQ.

BBQ in Western Kentucky is unique for the Commonwealth. It’s not sweet, though is chock-full of flavor and is absolutely delicious. The mainstay offering is mutton, which is mature sheep. You can get it sliced or chipped, though first time diners often elect for chipped.

Peak Brothers BBQ Menu

The menu at Peak Brothers offers something for all taste palates. If you’re in the mood for a BBQ plate or tray, you can order mutton, pork, ham, beef, or ribs. They also offer smoked half chickens and the BBQ meats in sandwich form. If this is your first visit to Peak Brothers, I recommend getting the combination plate, which is what I ordered.

The combination plate features ham, pork, beef, mutton, and ribs. Order BBQ beans and/or potato salad on the side. Also, in true rural Kentucky fashion, they serve delicious fried fish.
