Amoeba Music opened its biggest store in November 2001 on Sunset Boulevard in Downtown Hollywood. Despite reopening in a geographically more iconic location, just a block east of the intersection of Hollywood and Vine, after a year on pause, The new Hollywood outpost is going to reopen soon.
The store is essentially one space with a separate upstairs for home video and a back room for classical, jazz, and other genres. There is also a low-story floor devoted to books, magazines, and posters.
The timings are generally from 11; 00 am-8:00 pm.
You can also find a minimal set of three steps separating the first half of the floor, primarily vinyl, T-shirts, and tchotchkes — the primary sellers in this day and age — from the CDs, DVDs, and Blu-Rays that make up the back half of the store.
But essentially, it is a one-view-fits-all store, although no photograph can take in its full scope.
