Michigan police trying to find bigfoot

Imagine driving down the road and seeing a seven-foot-tall sasquatch standing in your neighbor's yard? Now imagine realizing that it is a rusty metal lawn ornament and thinking it would be a good idea to steal it.

Believe it or not, someone did.

A Michigan resident in Park Township reported a seven-foot-tall Sasquatch lawn ornament that had been stolen sometime around March 22, 2022. The resident didn’t know why the ornament was stolen, just that someone had taken it.

AP News reported that police say, “It appeared the sasquatch was cut away from a steel post with a pair of bolt cutters or a similar instrument.” A thief armed with bolt cutters snuck onto a property along West End Road near Heimbach Road in Park Township, Michigan, and stole the bigfoot ornament. A white panel van with dark driver- and passenger-side windows was observed by neighbors to be parked in the area on March 22, and they are looking for it.

According to WZZM 13 news, “Neighbors in the area spotted the white panel van with dark tinted windows in the area around the time of the theft. It reportedly was observed turning around in the victim's driveway and then leaving the scene.”

The sheet metal statue was a bit rusty and had various sharp edges to resemble the fur of the mythical, ape-like bigfoot.

It just goes to show you that people will steal anything of value, even if it’s tied down. Who knows why it was stolen or where the Sasquatch is now. The value of the bigfoot is unspecified, but something as unique as that is sure to be missed.
