The Truth Behind the Confederate Flag

The confederate flag is a topic of much debate between the right-wingers and the left-wingers. However, It would be nice to clear up some confusion relating to this "symbol of hatred". To begin, the flag we know as the confederate flag was used as a battle flag of the Confederacy. The actual flag of the confederacy looked very different and changed twice before the end of the regime.

The first flag of the confederacy was too similar to the American flag to use on a battlefield so it was replaced with the battle flag and others used by local & state militaries. But what about the controversy surrounding the confederate battle flag is it really a symbol of racism? Well, the truth is both sides are right. It is a symbol of racism however it also isn't. In some contexts, it is used as a symbol of racism. During the Unite the Right rally many confederate flags were flown to express white supremacy, a racist political ideology. However, in some situations, the confederate flag is used to express other meanings of which some have nothing to do with race. Confederate flags are sometimes used to express the belief in limited government/right-wing libertarianism which is usually not a racist ideology with some exceptions. The third and final meaning of the confederate flag is a symbol of southern heritage. Some people in the south use confederate flags to represent their heritage due to the fact that some of their forefathers served in the Confederate military. So to conclude confederate flags can be a symbol of hatred but they have more than one meaning.

James Buchanan VS Richard Nixon

James Buchanan is remembered as the worst president because of his poor handling of the issue of slavery. He was morally opposed to slavery however he believed it was protected by the constitution. He also didn't do anything to stop the faction of proslavery states that later became the Confederacy. However, it is believed that the reason he didn't do anything about slavery is that he wanted to stop the inevitable war with the Confederacy. But Richard Nixon might have been a worse president than James Buchanan. Richard Nixon was remembered as the president that improved America's diplomatic relationship with the People's Republic of China. He also opened trade with China which was the first step to helping a communist nation build its economy. The trade relations that American has with China due to Richard Nixon's presidency are part of the reason that China had the money to make its military so powerful. With China's military so powerful it essentially started a second cold war between America and China. The other big criticism of Richard Nixon is the Watergate scandal, which was a major scandal involving Nixon's administration. The scandal stemmed from the Nixon administration repeatedly attempting to cover up their involvement in the June 17, 1972 break-in of the Democratic National Committee headquarters. Witnesses testified that Nixon had approved plans to cover up the administration involved in the break-in. The Watergate scandal was the event that Convinced him to resign from his position as president. So think who was worse the president that tried to preserve peace or the president that funded communism and could one day be responsible for the demise of our nation. Opinion: International Diplomacy is Complex

International diplomacy is an ideology that emphasizes a focus on improving relations with foreign countries. Left-wingers also believe that international diplomacy is a good thing on top of this they believe that our government shouldn't increase military spending, however, right-wingers saying that you should focus on increasing military spending over international diplomacy so which is the most logical way to go? Well like many things in politics it's not as simple as people believe. The idea of increasing international diplomacy and not worrying about military spending could result in us being invaded by a country or group of countries that don't like us. If you think that's unlikely polls show that the United States is one of the most hated countries in the world. However, let's look at the right-wingers' perspective. The idea of increasing military spending and not worrying about international diplomacy could also have a bad outcome. If we stop worrying about international diplomacy then other countries might try to get rid of us. Essentially both having a strong military and increasing international diplomacy are very important. So the question that we should be asking is how do we preserve international diplomacy and also increase military spending. Joe Biden unlike other left-wingers supports an increase to $753 billion in military spending, which is a 1.6% increase from the FY2021 budget. Kamala Harris goes to France to talk about Libya.

Kamala Harris's third foreign trip will be a trip to France so she can talk to Macron about the European migrant crisis. Kamala Harris will travel to France on Monday for four days of meetings with French President Emmanuel Macron, German Chancellor Angela Merkel, and other European leaders as they gather in Paris to mark Armistice Day, which commemorates the end of World War I. While there she will take part in the Paris peace conference on Libya, a diplomatic effort aimed at helping Libya achieve peaceful elections. Disputes over elections scheduled for December 24 threaten to derail Libya’s efforts to end a decade of chaos and violence. “We want to show our support for the Libyan people as they move toward national elections and focus on the importance of withdrawing foreign forces and mercenaries,” a US official said.

How people see the second amendment

An interesting argument is the one about the meaning of the second amendment. Left-wingers and Moderates are saying that some guns shouldn't be legally owned by the public. However, the right-wingers are saying that there shouldn't be any restrictions on guns. Let's start with the Right-wing argument. The first reason they believe the second amendment should include all guns is that it was a known concept at the time that technology gets more advanced with the passage of time. And the second reason is that they believe the second amendment exists so the people have equal weapons to the government. They believe It was created so the government wouldn't become tyrannical. Essentially they believe the second amendment includes newer guns because the purpose is to keep power equal between the people and the government.
