Good morning Athens, Alabama, and Limestone County!
When most people wake up to go to work (except for all those lucky teachers on Christmas break), you'll want to dress warmly. The temperature is expected to be around freezing at 6:00 AM.
Be sure to give yourself a few extra minutes in the morning to allow your vehicle to warm up and defrost those windows. It is highly unsafe to drive with frost covering your windshield - even if you scrape a hole to see through.
Also, with temperatures near freezing, be cautious when traveling over bridges. Ice forms first on bridges, and often you won't see the ice before you drive over it.
By lunchtime, the sun will be shining brightly, and the temperature will have climbed into the low to mid 40's. There will be a slight breeze throughout the day, so you'll want to keep your jacket close by.
Around 5:00 PM, the temperature will dip back below 40 degrees, quickly falling into the 30's.
By midnight, the temperature will fall into the 20's and remain there until the morning.

When temperatures drop below freezing, it's always a good idea to let the water in your sinks drip overnight. This will help prevent the water in your pipes from freezing and bursting a pipe under your house. No one wants to go outside in the middle of the night to deal with a burst pipe.
Have a great Wednesday! Make sure you finish all of your Christmas shopping this week!
