Cuyahoga County's Plastic Bag Ban Specialist job vacancy opens now until July 4th

CUYAHOGA COUNTY, OH — Cuyahoga County's Consumer Affairs Department is looking for a part-time Plastic Bag Ban Specialist.

The position entails responsibilities related to the county's plastic bag ban socialization to stores and shoppers. The Specialist will also have to be present for in-person and virtual events around the county, tend to any questions relating to their job from community members, create and implement bag ban's socialization messages to the county's website and social media feeds, as well as attend in-person functions.

This position offers around $20 to $25 per hour salary.

Some other job responsibilities are:

  • Come up with marketing strategies and brand guidance regarding the bag ban
  • Social media messaging to the public that encourages voluntary compliance
  • Answer questions and inquiries from shops and residents
  • Cooperate with other agencies and businesses to achieve goals

Interested applicants should also note the minimum requirements for the Specialist vacancy are:

  • A university degree from an accredited university in communications, public relations, journalism, sustainability, or other relevant fields,
  • A minimum of two years of work experience in sales or outreach jobs or other similar positions

If selected, you will work for an average of 30 hours a week for a temporary assignment of 180 days. The working schedule is from Monday through Friday, from 8.30 AM - 4.30 PM. However, you might also have to work for some evenings and weekends.

Please note that the department will subject you to a background check and a drug screen if you get a job offer.

Prior criminal convictions would not immediately mean disqualification. The county examines criminal cases based on individual convictions as per the guidelines in Chapter 306 of the County Code.
