In the summer months, there is pretty much nothing that can compare to eating delicious watermelon. It might be the most popular summer treat there is.

On June 17-18, the https://watermelonfest.org/ will happen in the San Fernando Valley at the Hansen Dam Soccer Fields at 11480 Foothill Blvd., in Lakeview Terrace California. The tickets include all-you-can-eat watermelon! This is a carnival with rides and many performers and attractions. This year they are celebrating the 80s. The festival goes from 10 am to 10 pm each day. One of the highlights is the watermelon eating contest. Tickets are on sale now.

This is a non-profit organization that supports various charities from service dogs to families in need. https://watermelonfest.org/about/

They will have specialty food celebrating the watermelon. Such unique treats like watermelon kettle corn popcorn, watermelon ice cream and popsicles, watermelon and shrimp tacos, and watermelon tamales. For the adults, there will be Jack Daniels and watermelon punch, and watermelon michelada.

And of course, for the purists, there is straight-up sweet and delicious watermelon.

Various barbecued meats, tacos, and other delicious outdoor foods will also be available. Live music will be on the stage conveniently placed near the beer tent so people can enjoy an ice-cold brew while listening to local talents. Speaking of the kids there is a great kid zone that will have various things for them to do. Activities like a petting zoo, face painting, arts and crafts, a dance area, and a kid's theater are available. There will also be exotic animals and a huge bubble party. The kid's zone is open from 10-7 pm each day.

To celebrate the 80s they will have a costume contest, BMX shows, and breakdancing.
