Eating in San Francisco can be an amazingly delicious experience. It also can be very expensive. It’s a shame that more people don’t get to taste some of the hidden gems “The City” has to offer.

Let's remember too that fast food value meals in some cities are $15-20 dollars per meal. This is why these under $15 a meal should be looked at more for families looking for fresh food at quality prices.

Some locals may not be happy when people write about these eating establishments but the more the merrier. Here are some good places to eat at an affordable price.

1. The Italian Homemade Company:

I’ve been going here for years. This is a family-owned restaurant that over the years has had a small growth of 5 restaurants. Their motto is life is a combination of magic and pasta. They make their pasta fresh and it’s incredible. They now offer 8 sauces after you choose your type of pasta. Almost all dishes are around $15. Their stuffed homemade flatbreads are delicious. Add their friendly service and you can’t go wrong.

2. Saigon Sandwich:

On almost every budget eats website around the country, one place consistently comes up; Saigon Sandwich. This tenderloin gem still doesn’t have a website and the long lines and cult following show that it sure doesn't hurt their business. They serve delicious bread and sandwiches filled with various types of meat (or tofu) with fresh and tasty vegetables to top it off. The sandwiches are almost all under $6.

3. Taqueria Cancun:

With three choices to choose from, this Mexican staple is a favorite of late-night partygoers and locals alike. It’s all about the burritos which are consistently large, consistently delicious, and under $12. The sauces are amazing and a local favorite is the al pastor which is the marinated pork. No frills, no worries.

Here are just a few of the hidden gems in San Francisco for affordable dishes.
