This is a special year at the Winchester Mystery House in San Jose, California.
They will be celebrating their 100th anniversary of opening the iconic house to the public. They have announced some special events to mark the occasion.
The Storied History:
The story of the famous house built by Sarah Winchester is of legend. Some have said it might be the most haunted place in the world. Sarah was born in New Haven, Connecticut but was told by her physician that a place with better weather would improve he failing health. She fell in love with Northern California and built one of the most eccentric houses ever. Was she haunted by ghosts? Was she riddled with guilt due to the deaths created by her late husband's rifle?
A Celebration of 100 Years:
The City of San Jose will start the official celebration on Friday, June 30, proclaiming it Winchester Mystery House Day in San Jose. A time capsule filled with current souvenirs and memorabilia will be, buried in the house.
If you want an early bird look into the Winchester Mystery House, historian Janan Boehme will look back at the 100 years of the Winchester House on June 24. The 2 pm talk be in the Carriage House. The cost is $5. A new exhibit will be unveiled as well. It will celebrate how the house has touched pop culture over the century.
Fan favorite Magician Aiden Sinclair will perform his “Aiden Sinclair’s Possessions,” show. It will be an interactive event that explores what things and situations scare and haunt people. The shows will run June 30 and July 1 with 2 shows occurring each night.
On July 2 the festivities will close with a special Centennial Brunch at the greenhouse and the greenhouse garden. Tickets to all events are now on sale at the Winchester Mystery House website.
