With over 4 decades and three generations of the same family running it, San Francisco Restaurant Don Ramon’s became quite the staple in San Francisco. Their amazing food and great service made it a destination for many locals and travelers alike. The Ramirez family had a great legacy that they hoped would last for years to come.
Unfortunately due to financial struggles, they had to close the doors in March of this year to the disappointment of a lot of people. The Ramirez family would not give up though. Don Ramon had always been supportive of San Francisco's political issues and causes and it seems that the politicians and “The City” helped give that support back.
According to various publications, “Supervisor Aaron Peskin at a Chamber of Commerce breakfast said, “We know that Don Ramon's is going to be reborn downtown, at Embarcadero Center”.
BXP which owns the Embarcadero Center, has told people how excited they are at the new additions that will be added to the buildings. The once-thriving area has seen better days with several businesses closing in the last 10-15 years.
The San Francisco Chronicle released a story saying that they had found out that Don Ramon’s will be at the ground floor of Embarcadero Four which is where the former Rubio’s was at the corner of Drumm & Clay Streets. It is a great spot with outdoor seating that faces the cobblestone walkway of Clay Street & Sue Bierman Park.
The family hopes for them to fully open by early fall. Presently it is owned and run by Ramon and Guadalupe Ramirez with their daughters and granddaughters helping to run the restaurant.
