In a scene out of a reality show, Gwyneth Paltrow is angering a lot of people with her courtroom antics during her trial.
In 2016 Paltrow was involved in a skiing accident at Utah’s Deer Valley Resort. Retired optometrist Terry Sanderson is suing her for $300,000.00 for running into him which left him with a "permanent traumatic brain injury, four broken ribs, pain, suffering, loss of enjoyment of life," along with emotional distress and disfigurement, according to the lawsuit. His physician confirmed the claims and his daughters have testified that he has greatly changed after the accident.
Paltrow has been in rare form during the trial. Her dramatic frowns, disgusted faces, and literal shock at being called a liar by the plaintiff have made her a popular target on social media.
In a truly bizarre request, her attorney Steve Owens said: "Private security for my client wanted to bring in treats for the bailiffs for how helpful they've been. So, I wanted to do that transparently and see if there are any objections," he added. The plaintiff’s lawyer did object and the judge denied the motion.

In her testimony, Paltrow said she was skiing with her family and said that she was the one who was hit. She first thought she may be sexually assaulted and let out an expletive because she was very upset. Her lawyer said she waited to see if the plaintiff was ok and left when the ski instructor said it was ok for her to go.
Craig Ramon who was an acquaintance of Sanderson and was there joining a meetup group refuted her testimony and said he heard a scream and turned around and saw Paltrow hit him on her skis. He stated he was 35 feet away and came to his aid calling the ski patrol, and that after a few minutes, she left the scene without ever talking to them. The trial will continue next week with her defense.
