An amazing night.
In what was a magical moment for wrestling fans around the world, Mark Briscoe defeated their close friend Jay Lethal on AEW Dynamite in front of a roaring crowd. Mark used his brother Jay's signature move the Jay Driller to win the match. Wednesday would have been Jay’s 39th birthday.
Upon entering Mark hoisted up both of their championship belts. Fans and wrestlers alike fought back tears. It looked like Mark was comforting Lethal at the beginning of their match.
The wrestling world saw just how popular the Broscoes are. Large publications, podcasts, and fans were outraged at some Warner Media executives who did not want to have the Briscoes on AEW due to some tweets Jay did 10 years ago against same-sex marriage. You wonder if Jay would have been at an AEW taping instead of passing away in a car accident. Jay at the time said he said that as a part of his bad guy wrestling persona but some didn’t buy it.
To prove them wrong, he spent the next 10 years supporting wrestlers of all walks of life including the gay community and gay wrestlers. He donated time and money. Many wrestlers who identify themselves as gay or transgender supported him. The most outspoken wrestler was the popular Effy who is openly gay, and he loved Jay and tweeted about it. Transgender wrestler Nyla Rose posted a crying emoji when Jay died.

Update on Jay’s Kids:
Family friend Josh Wharton has been giving updates to the press and on social media through Ashley Pugh, Jay’s widow.
Ashley also shared a birthday cake that the nursing staff had made especially for them to celebrate Jay’s 39th birthday.
Below is a video update from family spokesperson Josh Wharton who is in contact with Jay's family. Follow him on Facebook if you want to keep up on any updates on the family.
In general, Josh said 12-year-old Gracie has feeling in her legs and thighs and her strength is improving. She also has less pain. She’s been up for a while playing video games. At this time she can’t move anything below her knees but she does have feeling in that area. With so much swelling it will take time to know the extent of the injury and there is still lots of physical therapy ahead.
Nine-year-old JJ had her NG tube removed from her stomach. She’s eating as much as she wants, doing physical therapy, and can stand up but she’s still in pain. She is wearing braces to stabilize her neck & back. The girls did spend time together and enjoyed seeing the cake the nursing staff bought for their dad on Jay’s birthday.

The Other Driver Gets the Briscoe’s Support:
The driver of the vehicle that veered into Jay’s lane hitting them, has had some of their friends and family attacked by upset fans on social media. Ashley and friends and family have asked people to support the family of 27-year-old Lillyanne Ternahan as she leaves behind 2 small children.
Briscoe Family spokesperson Josh Wharton set up an account on give send go, a go-fund-me alternative. In an amazing show of support, they surpassed their goal of $20,000 and are now over $23,575 in donations. Many of the donations were given by Jay’s fans in his memory.
