The party is back!

San Francisco will renew their annual New Year's Eve fireworks show at midnight to welcome in the new year. Last year's fireworks were canceled due to COVID-19 concerns. With so many struggling in the last couple of years, many are hopeful that 2023 will be a special year for everyone. They are expecting around 200,000 people to be at the celebration.

The official site for the fireworks is the rove.me website. (link below)

The site suggests that One of the best spots to watch fireworks over San Francisco is the waterfront area south of the Ferry Building near Pier 14. The fireworks will be synced to music from the speakers along the Embarcadero between Mission St. and Folsom St.

The site sanfran.com (link below) also suggests that another great spot to watch the fireworks is at Treasure Island or Yerba Buena Island which has some of the best views.

Here is a list of various things to do around the San Francisco Bay area to bring in the New Year. The website nbcbayarea.com has an excellent list of links. (link below)

As for the city of San Francisco, several restaurants have rooftop dining for a more romantic and picturesque view of the display. There are still some rooms in nearby hotels you can see on the rove.me website. You will need a heavy wallet because the restaurants and hotels are very pricey, especially for the new years celebration. Some of the local cruises offer dinner dances.

Below is a YouTube link to a past San Francisco New Year's Eve fireworks celebration taken from a drone. Thanks to Nick from Parallax Effect, and his father for sharing such an amazing view of the festivities. Subscribe to his channel for other fun drone videos that I’m sure you will enjoy.

Wherever you go please leave early, be safe and don't drink and drive. Happy New Year to all!
