The shortage of baby formula has many Ohio families scrambling to feed their babies. Many stores are rationing sales and others are simply out of stock. But I have found a list of options for you below. Before I get to that, you may be thinking: Why is there a shortage in the first place?
According to Ben Reich, the CEO of Tysons, a Virginia-based research firm, he says that inflation, supply chain shortages, and product recalls have brought an unprecedented amount of volatility. We expect to continue to see baby formula as one of the most affected categories in the market.
Watering Down Baby Formula Raises Health Concerns
Dr. Kevin Turner with UH Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital says that parents should never dilute infant formula. He also advised against switching to cow milk too soon or using toddler formula. “It can cause problems with nutritional and electrolyte imbalances in the infant,” said Turner.
So, if watering down the baby formula is not an option, what are parents to do?
Here are a few options that you can try. Many are online and offer shipping right to your door.
On Amazon, there are some baby formula products that are available at time of publishing. Target does too.
Walmart also has baby formula available and you can get it shipped to your home.
Don't forget about club-store options such as Costco, Sam's and BJ's. These options also give you a larger quantity of baby formula too. You could also try Facebook Marketplace or eBay too, but please use good discretion there.
