HOUSTON, TX — Spring Branch Independent School District in Houston seeks to hire more than sixty new teachers for the beginning of the next school year. They are offering a record $59,000 salary for new first-year teachers. The first school day will start on August 16, and the district is working daily to recruit and prepare more than sixty new teachers to join Spring Branch Independent School District. Particularly. The district is in need of bilingual teachers.

Spring Branch Independent School District has more than 33,000 students spread in forty-seven schools across Houston. The district also employs close to 3,000 teachers.

On June 21, the school board approved two percent salary raises for all teachers as part of a $360.7 million budget for the 2022 fiscal year. Moreover, starting pay for first-year teachers will also increase, from $58,000 a year to $59,000 a year which is a new record for the district.

Superintendent Jennifer Blaine stated, “With school starting on August 16, it is vitally important that we make sure every teacher vacancy is filled and we are working hard to bring that about.”

Blaine also added, “Ours is one of the highest performing school districts in the area and our teachers and other employees dedicate their lives to serving the needs of children. We are urging available teachers to come join the Spring Branch ISD family.”

Teachers guided Spring Branch Independent School District students to far outperform state averages on the State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR) tests this year. The learning losses from COVID-19 were significantly less than those in plenty of other districts across the state.
