HOUSTON — The Houston Dash defeat the San Antonio Athenians in a 4-0 scrimmage at Houston Sports Park on Wednesday evening, June 2. Here's our summary of the match:

In the first seven minutes, forward Jamia Fields brought the ball into the left-wing box and fired off a kick through two San Antonio defenders and into the top right corner. Mia Wilderman, San Antonio's goalkeeper, couldn't handle the shot and gave Dash an early lead.

Another goal was scored only six minutes later when Houston's defender Annika Schmidt headed the ball and gave it to midfielder Cami Privett. Privett then took a shot and landed the ball on the back of the net.

Houston didn't stop the push against San Antonio until they tallied their third and fourth goals in the 41st and 42nd minute. Annika Schmidt also scored the third goal after she took control of Makamae Gomera-Stevens's rebound ball.

Midfielder Maegan Rosa scored the fourth goal. After Rosa dribbled through the right flank of the field, she chipped the ball over Mia Wildeman, and it went into the net.

This victory would surely bring confidence back to Houston after their close 2-1 defeat against Washington Spirit last match. Both teams had goals overturned due to offside, with the Dash having their goal annulled in the first half.

Houston Dash will be back in league action when they travel to the Midwest against Kansas City NWSL at Legends Field in Kansas City, Kansas. The Dash's fans can watch their idols internationally on Paramount+ and Twitch streaming platforms.
