Two More Stimulus Payments Might Be Coming Your Way

Residents of four states in the United States may be eligible for future stimulus payments, which will begin in May as the country struggles with high inflation.

Families and individuals that qualify will receive the Golden State Stimulus payment. This is a one-time payment of $600 or $1,200 per tax return.

Golden State Stimulus I (GSS 1) and Golden State Stimulus II (GSS 2) are two stimulus packages passed last year that will pay out to eligible California residents.

Residents of California will get either a $600 or $1,200 check in the first stimulus package and a check for up to $1,100 in the second. Depending on whether they qualified for GSS I and other factors, some may receive fewer payouts under GSS II.

California residents earning less than $75,000 per year and filing their taxes by October 15, 2021, will be eligible. In June, the state's Franchise Tax Board (FTB) will issue another round of checks.

Residents should check their eligibility for one or both stimulus payments, according to the FTB website. But here is a little more information for you in the meantime.

You must file your 2020 tax return if you qualify or believe you may be eligible for the Golden State stimulus payment. Make sure you claim the CalEITC on your tax return if you are eligible.
