I don't typically trust my father's restaurant recommendations.
Yet, my wife and I finally thought we would give Waddell's Neighborhood Pub & Grill a try on a date night the other night. Why would we pick a place like this for a date night? Well, we didn't have the kids with us and I wanted a beer and my wife wanted to try something new out.
So, we took the leap and headed into Waddell's for the night out.
When we got there it wasn't packed, which was fine. We were able to grab a seat and the waitress was excellent. I grabbed a local beer and my wife got a soda. Then we grabbed an appetizer and ordered our few. Our food came out promptly and we were presently surprised.
In the end, it was a successful trip out. The funny thing is that my expectations were low based on reviews. In fact, I expect that there will be some who will not like my review. However, I'm going for it anyway.
Waddell's Neighborhood Pub & Grill
From the beers on tap to the menu of traditional pub cuisine, this South Hill sports bar excels at the standard pub fare and having a damn good beer on tap. What I loved about Waddell's kitchen is that they produced the food on their menu the way it should be. No, they don't do anything special. But it is damn good.
Some of the greatest craft beers in the Inland Northwest are on tap. Over 80% of Waddell's 50 tap handle lineup is rotated on a regular basis. If you're looking for an IPA, go no further than here, where you'll find over 15 different hoppy IPAs.
Yes, They Were On Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives
Here is the thing, they were on the show years ago and everyone talks about it like it was yesterday. Sure, it's a cool thing, but I think people are expecting a lot more from this place than they should. After all, it is a pub, should I say, a bar.
So, let's get over this reality that you are going to step into an amazing restaurant experience. You are stepping into a pub that has a lot of beer, some decent pub food, and a pretty good atmosphere. No, probably not a nice date night place, but I'm looking forward to going and getting a beer with friends.
So, now that we have that out of the way, let's take a look at some of the details for the best pub and grill in Spokane.
Waddell's is located on the South Hill off of Regal. They are located in the Village at the Regal Pond. To be honest, it doesn't always have the best parking, but it is worth it. You can park back in the neighborhood or across the street in the Ace parking lot.
Hours of Operation
They are open Sunday through Thursday from 11:00 AM to 10:00 PM and Friday through Saturday from 11:00 AM to 11:00 PM. Perfect for lunch, dinner, or drinks with friends. Their consistency in hours really helps make it easier to want to come back to this place.
Their menu is traditional American pub food. It's really nothing out of the ordinary. However, they do have a few specialty items that they ride out a lot. However, I think the traditional pub food is really the best place to go if you are going to grab any food on the menu.
This is one of those places where you go to drink beer, eat food, and hang out with friends. The atmosphere is great and the service was excellent. In fact, I look forward to going back there for a beer or two and grabbing lunch or dinner.
Don't get caught up in the fact they were on Diner's, Drive-Ins, and Dives.
Simply focus on the fact that you are going to drink a pint or two, have some decent food, and enjoy the surroundings. And you never know, you might just have a great conversation with a friend or meet a new friend there.
Make sure you stop in today, this weekend, or sometime soon to try out everything that this place has to offer. You won't regret it and you just might find a new local favorite.
