Nothing quite compares to the attention to detail of sushi. Each piece is masterfully crafted and plated like a piece of art, highlighting just how much went into making it. For some of the best sushi and Japanese cuisine in Live Oak, Florida, Sakura Sushi and Grill is the place to be.

The finesse of the sushi at Sakura is noteworthy, with icons like the California roll and shrimp tempura roll prepared exquisitely. A personal favorite is the Godzilla roll, which comes deep-fried and features crab meat, masago, scallion, and spicy mayo.

Another must-try sushi creation is the King Lobster Roll, which comes in a soy paper wrap, featuring lobster tempura, lobster salad, avocado, and a nice drizzling of eel sauce and house spicy lemon sauce for a zesty finish. Similarly, the Land and Sea Roll also features the unique soy paper wrap with spicy salmon, spicy tuna, avocado, asparagus, seared beef, caviar, scallions, and eel and yuzu sauces to finish.

Any of the hibachi dishes at Sakura are a good call too, especially the combinations, like chicken and steak, shrimp and scallop, or the excellent shrimp and steak. Each hibachi order comes with clear soup, a side salad, vegetables, and choice of fried rice or noodles.

“One of my favorites at Sakura is the dinner Bento box,” said local Live Oak resident Tyler Moore. “They give you such a solid variety! You get their clear soup, a nice salad, fried rice, a California roll, three pieces of gyoza, and shrimp & vegetable tempura on top of your protein. It is amazing!”

Make sure to try some of the amazing appetizers at Sakura, like the tender and spicy yakitori, which comes drizzled in a superb teriyaki sauce. One can never go wrong with fried calamari, crab rangoons, or gyoza too.
