With the weather changing across Buffalo, New York, thoughts of spring and a renewed sense of energy and purpose are motivating small businesses for a major upcoming event. The Western New York Spring Fling Craft and Small Business Expo will take place Saturday, April 16 from nine in the morning to six in the evening at the Buffalo Niagara Convention Center, located at 153 Franklin Street in downtown Buffalo, New York.

“This is the first time we are having it and we are very excited,” said Spring Fling Creator Matthew Rennicks. “This is pretty much the first year we have been able to get it going with how the covid restrictions have been. There will be no covid restrictions regarding entry, capacity limits, etc.”

The one-of-a-kind event will feature and highlight many amazing local businesses from across Western New York. Local artists and craftspeople will be on site showcasing their wares and goods, as well as gourmet food retailers.

“We will have a mix of one hundred and thirty private and local vendors in total,” Rennicks went on to say. “There will be a lot of variety out there, that is one thing we really focused on with this event. We really want there to be something for everyone.”

On top of all the exciting home goods, apparel, and jewelry that will be on-site, a number of unique collectibles are expected to be available, pulling in collectors from all over Western New York.

“One vendor coming in specializes in sports memorabilia and they will have some signed helmets coming in,” Rennicks also stated. “Concessions will be provided by Buffalo Niagara, but there will be some excellent food vendors on the floor too. We have an amazing bakery coming in, a honey products specialist, and of course there will be cotton candy.”

For those with a sweet tooth young or old, the expo is sure to please. The Spring Fling plans to welcome attendees of all ages and even has some special treats planned for children in attendance, including a special appearance by everyone’s favorite rabbit.

“Everyone should definitely be on the lookout for the Easter bunny,” Rennicks also noted. “The event is absolutely family friendly, so bring the kids! We will have free face painting and a baby kangaroo will be there.”

Admission to The Western New York Spring Fling Craft and Small Business Expo is free on the condition each individual attending brings a non-perishable food item for donation to the local food bank. For those who cannot make this event, there is another not too far away on the horizon.

“We are trying to do two different versions of this event, to kind of go back and forth for everyone,” Rennicks remarked in conclusion. “The next event will be more adult-themed, eighteen and up only. Right now, we are trying to get the permits for some wine and beer-tasting going for that.”
