Brunch brings to one’s mind the thin line between breakfast and lunch, or in some cases, the one local diner or restaurant that has nailed both. Breakfast and lunch together at the French View Family Restaurant in Depew, New York is one such harmonious locale where either meal has never tasted more like good old fashioned home cooking.

One important note to emphasize right away about French View is they only take cash. Being almost 2022, one assumes a lot of people only carry cards or electronic payment by default, here is your heads up to bring physical cash.

While cash only is a bit old school tech-wise, diners will be pleased to learn the prices are old school in a different way. Unlike prices seemingly everywhere else currently, French View keeps the classic diner breakfasts and lunches at an affordable and recognizable cost, like omelets at eight to ten bucks tops or sandwiches with a side at a steady ten a pop no matter the melt.

The breakfast portion of the menu has all the classic omelets, ham and cheese, the western, etc. as well as some specialty deluxe options served with the same sides of pancakes, toast, or an English muffin. The chicken fajita omelet is a great brunch treat, highlighting marinated chicken strips with a mix of cheeses, salsa, onions, peppers, and sour cream on top.

Being a Buffalo restaurant, lunch staples like the chicken finger melt and Reuben melt are hearty and full of flavor. One must-try melt at French View is the super, which comes with a half-pound burger on sour dough with melted American cheese, bacon, and barbecue sauce. The rich flavor of the barbecue and savory bites of sourdough are a match made in heaven.

While brunch at French View is some of the best in the area, the dinner items are certainly praiseworthy too. Steak, chicken, seafood, and pasta are all represented with multiple delicious plates to try, including their famously delectable fish fry – served on Fridays only. If one is looking for dinner at French View, the best day to go is Friday, as it is the only day of the week they are open past two-thirty in the afternoon.
