The city of Wooster has a new Italian restaurant.

On May 24, the restaurant Mariola Italian celebrated its grand opening. As one could guess from the name, the new restaurant offers Italian fare.

At the new Italian restaurant, you can get starters such as hand-breaded fried provolone (which is the restaurant's most popular appetizer so far), spinach artichoke dip, baked goat cheese and marinara, Italian meatballs (which are handmade with certified Angus beef and Italian sausage, and covered with marinara and parmesan), and fried calamari.

Also on the menu is creamy tomato bisque (which has focaccia croutons and parmesan), Italian wedding soup, the house salad (which has grape tomatoes, red onions, cucumbers, black olives, banana peppers, focaccia croutons, mozzarella, provolone, and creamy Italian dressing that's made in-house), and Caesar salad.

As for main courses, the restaurant offers a variety of pasta dishes with sauces that are made fresh and from scratch every day. They have spaghetti and meatballs, fettuccine alfredo, house-made lasagna, shrimp scampi, baked cheese ravioli, and spicy chicken penne, which has a creamy marinara sauce with a bit of a kick, grilled chicken breast, and crispy marinated hot peppers. They also offer chicken parmesan, eggplant parmesan, and parmesan-crusted salmon.

For those with dietary restrictions, gluten-free penne pasta is available.

The menu also has pizzas, which are prepared with dough that's made fresh every day. The standard pizza is covered with the restaurant's made-from-scratch sauce and a mozzarella-provolone blend. They also have specialty pies such as the Vinny (which is a pizza perfect for meat-lovers and topped with pizza sauce, pepperoni, Italian sausage, handmade meatballs, and bacon), the Fig & Pig (which is topped with fig jam, Italian sausage, caramelized red onion, mozzarella, and goat cheese), and Mr. Mariola, which is topped with pizza sauce, pepperoni, roasted garlic, banana peppers, and marinated hot peppers.

For those with dietary restrictions, a gluten-free cauliflower crust is available.

If you managed to save room for dessert, the restaurant offers cannoli, tiramisu, New York-style cheesecake, chocolate gelato, vanilla bean ice cream, and warm skillet cookie, which consists of a freshly baked chocolate chip cookie served a la mode with chocolate sauce.

So far, the community is greatly enjoying the new addition to Wooster's food scene. Here is what a local guide wrote in a glowing Google review:

I sure wish Google would move to a ten point scale, or even a 100 point scale. That granularity would be helpful in a case like this. I mean, five stars means, to me, there is no room for improvement. Everything is perfection. There is no place like that. But as Italian restaurants go, I can't imagine this being topped, at least in general vincinity. We both enjoyed the experience immensely. I recommend this restaurant.

If you want to check out the restaurant, it's located at 365 E Liberty St #100, Wooster, OH 44691.

The new restaurant is open 7 days a week, Monday to Thursday from 11 AM to 10 PM, Friday from 11 AM to 11 PM, Saturday from 10 AM to 11 PM, and Sunday from 10 AM to 9 PM.
