A new restaurant has opened in the city of Cincinnati.
Are you looking for a place with plenty of vegan options? If the answer is yes, you might want to check out Alkaline Allie, which had a soft opening on May 20. The owners are "a dynamic father and daughter duo" who want to show that healthy food can also be delicious.
In the morning, you can get plant-based pancakes - "Allie Cakes" on the menu - which come with either agave syrup or berry compote. Also available for breakfast are Ban O'Brien (fried burro bananas with peppers and onions), vegan sausage patties that are made from scratch, crepes filled with berry compote, assorted fruit cups, and chickpea-based "omelets."
Later in the day, you can get meals like walnut spaghetti with teff bread and stir-fry quinoa. You can get stir-fry quinoa in one of these flavors: tamarind heat (which has African bird pepper, tamarind, and lime), orange ginger, basil tomatillo, and Allie natural onion with African bird pepper and bay leaf.
You can also get a salad, which has red leaf lettuce, diced peppers, white onion, zucchini, apples, cucumber, Castelvetrano olives (which have a mild, buttery flavor), Roma tomato, and goji berries, all tossed in a citrus house dressing.
The restaurant also offers sides such as fried kale that's sauteed with shallots and peppers, candied butternut squash that's sweetened with agave, quinoa, and wild rice.
In addition, Alkaline Allie serves smoothies that are made with almond milk. Check out the Punch Allie (which is made with blueberries, strawberries, and apple), Berry Baby (which is made with strawberries and baby bananas), or Tropical Allie, which is made with mango, baby banana, and apple. For an upcharge, you can add things like sea moss, dates, avocado, hemp seeds, agave, and/or date syrup to your smoothie.
Do you have room for dessert? The restaurant has vegan sweet treats like cupcakes (flavors include chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry), cookies, banana pudding, and soft serve ice cream that comes in flavors like vanilla, chocolate, mango, pineapple, cherry, orange, strawberry, and raspberry.
So far, Alkaline Allie has received a warm welcome from locals. Here is what a local guide had to say in a Google review:
Very friendly faces. Good cupcakes and good smoothies nice place would recommend it
