After a long closure that was felt by many locals, the City Diner, a local restaurant in Cleveland's Old Brooklyn neighborhood, reopened its doors last month.
The restaurant is now under new management and serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
For breakfast, the diner offers staples such as buttermilk hotcakes, French toast, Belgian waffles, corned beef hash, eggs benedict, country fried steak, and biscuits and gravy. Their menu also has a variety of omelets; you can't go wrong with the country omelet (which is filled with cured ham, onion, green pepper, and mushroom) or the City Diner omelet, which is filled with Applewood smoked bacon, cured ham, country sausage, onion, green pepper, mushroom, tomato, Swiss, and American cheese.
The diner also has breakfast sandwiches such as a croissant sandwich with scrambled eggs, American cheese, and your choice of meat and a waffle sandwich stuffed with scrambled eggs, a sausage patty, and American cheese.
Later in the day, they serve hearty dinners such as St. Louis baby BBQ ribs, rotisserie chicken, country fried chicken, pot roast, and a shepherd's pie (which is made with beef, mashed potatoes, and fresh vegetables and topped with brown gravy and cheddar cheese). All dinners also come with soup, salad, your choice of bread, and dessert.
Their menu also has some pasta dishes (pasta dinners also come with soup, salad, your choice of bread, and dessert), burgers (check out the Clevelander; in addition to a beef patty, this burger has lettuce, tomato, corned beef, sauerkraut, Swiss cheese, and pickles), corned beef sandwiches, melts, and more.
For those currently observing Lent, the diner has some great seafood options including fish and chips, breaded ocean perch, garlic butter white fish, and breaded shrimp. On Fridays, they offer all-you-can-eat fish fry for dine-in customers. For $14.99, you can feast on either AYCE pollock and cod or popcorn shrimp, and for $16.99, you can feast on AYCE ocean perch. AYCE fish fry dinners also come with your choice of potato, soup, salad, and dessert.
The City Diner is open on Monday to Thursday from 7 AM to 8 PM, Friday and Saturday from 7 AM to 9 PM, and Sunday from 7 AM to 2 PM.
