When I stepped outside, it was cold as heck. The snow and wind were blowing, and the roads were slippery with ice. To get ready to face the day, I decided I needed to get some warm grub in me.

In my recent article about good breakfast places in the suburbs of Cleveland, a commenter expressed their surprise that Southside Diner wasn't on the list. I confess that at the time of writing the article, I'd never visited Southside Diner, though it has always been on my ever-growing list of Yelp bookmarks.

Well, the other day, I decided to rectify that and get my warm grub at Southside Diner.

Since the commenter mentioned the diner's breakfast tacos, I ordered that.

And lord, am I glad I did!

The tacos were utterly delicious. The chorizo was flavorful and complemented perfectly by the lightly spicy chipotle sauce, red onion, sweet pieces of pineapple, fried eggs, fresh cilantro, and pepper jack cheese. The wonderful fillings were wrapped in grilled flour tortillas, which were nothing like the soggy bland tortillas you get at national chain places.

My breakfast tacos also came with a large side of home fries, which were crisp and contained just the right amount of salt.

The service was just as great. My server always had a friendly smile on her face, and made sure that my cup of water and mug of coffee were never empty.

There are chain places like IHOP and Denny's in the area, but why would you go to those restaurants when a locally owned option like Southside Diner exists? Southside Diner's menu has so much more creativity and flavor. And do IHOP and Denny's have breakfast tacos? I think not (and even if they did, I'm sure they wouldn't be half as good as Southside Diner's).

Thank you to Southside Diner for giving me a delicious breakfast. Thank you to my waitress for making sure that my dining experience was a great one.

And thank you to that commenter for mentioning Southside Diner and giving me the motivation to finally go there. Sometimes, it does pay to read the comments section :)
