Ava Majury was just 14 years old when she became an overnight sensation on TikTok. With her relatable content and relatable sense of humor, she quickly amassed a large following of fans. But for one fan, things went too far.
18-year-old Eric Justin became obsessed with Ava, sending her numerous messages and eventually contacting other kids from her school in an attempt to get her attention.Â
Fearing for her safety, Ava and her parents decided to take drastic measures to get rid of the stalker. They began selling "face only" selfies to Eric for $150 each, in the hopes that this would satisfy his obsession and he would leave her alone.
Unfortunately, this plan backfired. Eric used his connections at Ava's school to find out her address and at 4:30 in the morning, he broke into her house with a shotgun.Â
Thankfully, Ava's father was able to intervene and shot Eric, preventing him from harming Ava or her family.
After this terrifying incident, Ava and her family decided to move and she is now being home-schooled. It's a sad reality that even in today's digital age, stalking and harassment can still happen to anyone, even a young teenager like Ava.
As we scroll through our social media feeds and consume content created by influencers, it's important to remember that behind the screens, there are real people with real lives.Â
Ava's story serves as a reminder that we should always be vigilant and take any form of harassment or stalking seriously. It's also a reminder of the importance of privacy and the need for better safety measures to protect young people from harm.
