A public market is one of the best ways to shop for in season, local foods while also supporting local farmers and other small businesses. It is also a great way to learn about the culture of our community and get to know so many people! A lot of grocery stores are conveneint in that aspect of picking up fresh produce along with everything else that you need, however there is one down side of that. You aren't always getting locally grown produce that is in season. To many people, that is importnant for many reasons which might include the better taste of the fruits and vegetables and also being able to support local farmers. Not only can you get fresh fruits and vegetables at the public market but you can also get locally sourced honey, baked goods, seafood, homemade beauty products, essential oils, and so much more!
A trip to Rochester's Public Market may be a chore to some but it doesn't have to be. There are ways that you can make your visit located within walking distance that will make your trip much more than picking out fresh produce.
Grab a coffee at a local coffee shop.
If you're a coffee person or even tea, there are a few coffee shops at the Public Market that you can support! While you're there be sure to pick up a pastry with your coffee from local talanted bakers!
