Beyonce's Favourite LA Spots to Eat and Shop

Beauty & Essex

In 2017, Beyonce and Jay-Z threw a glamorous private dinner party for their A-lister friends. Attendees included DJ Khalid, Kevin Hart, Kelly Rowland, Kris Humphries, and Victor Cruz. The venue was LA's most prestigious club-restaurant, and a frequent celebrity hotspot, Beauty & Essex. Beyonce showed up to the dinner party in a gorgeous scarlet dress, and documented the night with an Instagram post.

Beauty & Essex's LA branch is an incredibly swanky dining hall, spanning over 10,000 square feet in its location at the Dream Hollywood hotel. The menu has been crafted by the world-renowned Chef Chris Santos, and includes delicacies such as grilled cheese and tomato soup dumplings, tuna poke wonton, tomato tartare, and more. Additionally, the restaurant's interior is breathtakingly beautiful, with an indoor-outdoor setup that incorporates a lavish courtyard on the ground floor, as well as a patio upstairs.

Sushi Park

This extravagant sushi place is one of Beyonce's favourite date-night spots, having dined here with her husband in 2017. This was a few weeks after she had given birth to her twins, and the celebrity couple was likely taking some much-needed time for themselves by having dinner at their longtime favourite hangout.

The restaurant's perspective on sushi is summed up in a simple sign posted outdoors: "NO TAKE OUT! No Salad! No Teriyaki, Tempura! No Trendy Sushi! No California Roll! No Spicy Tuna Roll! We serve only Traditional Sushi!" Beyonce and her husband allegedly had the omakase experience, or the chef's choice menu, which includes 17 courses and costs upwards of $200 per person. After the seventh course is served, you're expected to tell the chef when you're full.

Although the restaurant’s location isn’t too outstanding (in the second floor of a strip mall off sunset), its food more than makes up for it. Food critics have praised its peppered black snapper, and the seared Chilean sea bass. Beyonce and Jay-Z are known to be big fans of Japanese food, so it’s no wonder a sushi place made the list.

Alice + Olivia

This designer brand is one of Beyonce's favourites, to the point that she's even worn a blouse featuring the likeness of its founder, Stacey Bendet. Shortly afterwards, the blouse was completely sold-out, and some even pestered Bendet to make the same design in a skirt. The celebrity star has been frequently spotted wearing the brand’s garments, such as a black and white striped coat at the White House’s Easter Egg Roll, and a pair of black . One time in 2015, she was also caught by paparazzi while leaving the Beverly Hills outlet, in a fashionable orange blazer and shorts.

Even then, Beyonce isn't the only A-lister who's a fan of Alice + Olivia. The brand's website has a star-studded lineup of celebrities who have been frequently spotted in its clothes: Meghan Markle, Michelle Obama, Gigi Hadid, and Jessica Alba. Since it opened as a small business over 15 years ago, the brand has expanded to thirty-five countries, and is available at over 800 department stores worldwide.

World on Wheels Skating Rink

The roller rink where Beyonce filmed her music video for “Blow” is also a go-to spot for the performer. Located in her hometown of Houston, Texas, World on Wheels underwent a grand reopening project in 2017, supervised by Tommy Karas and Nipsey Hussle. The story behind its reopening has also been documented in the HBO documentary, United Skates.

After a four-year closure, fans and roller-skaters were eager to get back on the rink, and this included Beyonce’s posse. On a cool Friday night, Beyonce, Jay-Z and their friends were seen enjoying their time out at World on Wheels. According to onlookers, the popstar seemed like she was having a great time, showing off her moves, and even doing a few splits. Considering she also used to frequent this rink as a child, it’s likely that the space holds significant nostalgic value for her.

Unfortunately, World on Wheels has since closed down again – another pandemic tragedy – but there are a number of other skating rinks up and running in LA.
