Suspect In Custody After Running From Hunt County Officers In A U-Haul Truck
On Saturday, May 14, 2022, 31-year-old Jovan Harper from Memphis, Tennessee was taken into custody after evading police with a stolen vehicle. A patrol officer with the Caddo Mills Police Department spotted a UHAUL truck driving erratically westbound on Interstate Highway 30. The officer caught up to the vehicle and the driver later identified as Jovan Harper quickly exited FM 1565 and pulled into the Exxon. The officer conducted a registration check of the truck’s Arizona license plate and was alerted that it was stolen. Hunt County Sheriff’s Department dispatch confirmed that the UHAUL truck was stolen out of Holland, Michigan. Harper got back on the interstate and the officer activated his emergency lights in an attempt to stop the truck but Harper refused to pull over. At that time the officer notified dispatch that the vehicle was fleeing and he requested assistance from other agencies.

A Hunt County Interdiction officer initiated a traffic stop on a black 4 door passenger vehicle Thursday afternoon that refused to stop. The Hunt County Deputy advised he was going to be in pursuit of a vehicle in the area of I-30 Westbound near mile marker 101 just before 3:30PM. The vehicle which reached speeds of 120MPH, per scanner traffic was driving recklessly, jumping the ditches, on and off of the service road, at one point striking another vehicle.

Texarkana Police arrested Brennen Brown, 20, for several charges after he assaulted his bedridden grandmother and then held his girlfriend at knifepoint in late October. Officers were called to a W. 7th Street apartment on October 27th. Brown's grandmother told us that he'd gotten upset because she would not allow him to use her phone so he pinned her arms down on the bed so he could take it from her and kneed her in the hip. After unplugging her oxygen machine, he started yelling at her and threatened to kill her with a fan if she told anyone what he'd done. He ran off and hid in the woods until we left.

On Sunday, October 17, 2021 and Monday, October 18, 2021, the Hunt County Sheriff’s Office Investigators coordinated with the Adventures with a Purpose dive team and the family of Roszan Payne to search some locations of interest in reference to Payne’s disappearance. Roszan Jean Payne was last seen in August of 1994. Payne was last seen by family members at her residence in Royse City, TX. At the time of her disappearance, she was driving a late 1980’s model green Volvo. Adventures with a Purpose divers searched an area of SH276 near the 2-mile bridge and multiple coves until making their way back to the FM751 causeway. The Adventures with a Purpose team also searched the cove at Sky Point RV Park in East Tawakoni and the stone quarries on County Road 339 and FM 429 in Kaufman County. Although these searches provided no additional lead, Hunt County Sheriff Terry Jones would like to once again thank Adventures with a Purpose and their entire team for their efforts.

Delta County EMS, Cooper Fire, Klondike Fire, Delta County S.O & DPS responded to 18 wheeler vs 18 wheeler yesterday, just before 1pm near the Dairy Queen in Cooper. Units arrived on the scene to find a heavy-duty, dual axle commercial vehicle that crashed through an 18 wheeler who was crossing the roadway, at the intersection of Highway 24 & FM 64. The 18 wheeler was flipped over, laying on its side, with half of the trailer still attached, the other half of the trailer was blocking 1 lane of Highway 24. The other truck involved was able to come to a safe stop on the side of Highway 24.
