We loved the modern and sleek property featuring inviting staff, open lobby area, delicious cafe and eatery on the ground floor, and comfortable guest rooms. The boutique hotel provides guests with second hand records and record players in each room to celebrate the area’s vintage niche and there are also laundry facilities, vending machines, and 24/7 staff to ensure all guests have what they need throughout their stay.

Step out onto Mustard Hotel’s front door and you’ll be instantly transported into the buzzing and artistic scene. Next door you’ll find reload, a style forward complex brimming with delicious eateries, unique boutiques, and artisanal cafes. We loved browsing the local brands and designers while trying a modern take on traditional Japanese fare. Just a few minutes walk you’ll find the buzzing main streets of Shimokitazawa.  Fashionistas will be spoilt for choice when it comes to perfectly curated vintage wear and our family couldn’t get enough of the variety of local eats.

As Shimokitazawa is surrounded by residential areas you’ll be able to find local favourites and also a variety of playgrounds for little ones. We had an amazing stay sampling the best pancakes in the area, picking up an array of stylish accessories, and even playing with the UFO claw machines in the arcades. A great choice for travellers who want to experience a younger, trendier side of Tokyo and anyone who craves amazing food, fashion, and music options all in one area.

Hulhulmale, located just a 10 minute drive from Maldives’ International airport, is a great option if you want to see an inhabited island and slices of local life. Unlike staying at one of the big resort islands you’ll have access to shops, buzzing streets and markets, and a chance to try a variety of local eateries. This can be a great way to visit the Maldives on a lower budget.

Note: We were given a complimentary stay at this resort. Our family had an unforgettable stay at the idyllic and picturesque Hilton Maldives Amingiri Resort. The luxurious five star resort brings all the world class service and amenities of the favoured brand to paradise ensuring we had the best service, facilities, and experience on one of the most beautiful locations in the Maldives. Our modern and sleek overwater suite was a huge highlight of our stay. The sprawling space boasted a sumptuous master bed overlooking the turquoise Indian Ocean, a gigantic bathroom and bathtub with a view, and even a separate lounge which was easily converted to a bedroom for our two children. The spacious outdoor deck leaves plenty of room to dine and unwind. We spent mornings relaxing on the overwater nets and plenty of time swimming in the refreshing private infinity pool.

Note: We were given a complimentary stay at this resort. Centara Grand Island Resort Maldives is a true paradise for families looking for that unforgettable ocean getaway. As soon as we set foot on the scenic jetty we knew we had found a unique property. The sparkling clear turquoise waters were impressive, even by Maldives standards, and the welcoming team made us feel instantly at home. We stayed in the Two Bedroom Beach Villa with Private Pool which incorporated separate rooms and bathrooms for the children and parents as well as a comfortable lounge area, large outdoor deck, and refreshing pool. We were set right in the sand with spectacular views and just steps to the crystal clear ocean. The water was calm and inviting, suitable for young swimmers and great for families to enjoy together.

From the moment we set foot on the jetty we were were greeted by the warmest welcome and were in awe of the pristine crystal clear water. The long white sand island is easy to traverse by bicycle or buggy and boasts a variety of villas to suit families, couples or groups. We loved the picturesque overwater villa boasting modern stylish decor, a grand bathroom with a view, and a spacious outdoor deck. The highlight was the stunning infinity pool and being just steps into the sparkling Indian Ocean. We also highly recommend the Family Beach Villa for those travelling with multiple children and the incredible Sultan Residence complete with a private waterslide for those travelling with a large group.

Located between Bentota River and the Indian Ocean you get the best of both worlds with tranquil river views and idyllic sandy shores. We boarded a short and picturesque boat ride over the river to access the beautiful resort and were instantly greeted with a traditional performance alongside their welcoming and incredible team. We loved the touches of Sri Lankan culture that welcomed our family giving us an amazing first experience in the stunning country. Our Family Suite was spacious and comfortable, perfect for those travelling with young children. Our children were excited about the bunk beds and we enjoyed pool and sunset views from two private balconies.

Sri Sharavi, located near to the popular Mirissa Beach, was the ideal tranquil getaway for our family. We were warmly welcomed by the personable staff and shown around our stunning Ocean Signature Suite upon arrival. We couldn’t believe the stylish and luxurious design, spacious lounge area, and stunning outdoor terrace overlooking serene ocean views. Guests can relax in the oversized canopy bed, unwind in the sumptuous lounge area, and wake to quiet ocean views.

Paradise Found at Club Med Kani Maldives

Note: We were given a complimentary stay at this resort. If you’re looking for the ultimate all-inclusive family holiday in paradise it’s hard to beat Club Med Kani. It was our second time at the resort and was even better than we remembered. The all inclusive resort is just a short speedboat ride from the international airport. As soon as we set foot on the jetty we were awed by the pristine clear waters and abundant marine life, friendly and welcoming ambiance, and plethora of activities for all ages. Our family of four shared two comfortable and modern beach villas which were spacious and had direct access to the stunning white sand beach. We made full use of the chic indoor and outdoor areas and loved walking through the sand to the resort’s main pool and all day dining restaurant.

Our Water Pool Villa was perfect for our small family of four with unbeatable ocean views, a refreshing and spacious private pool, and was just steps into the abundant reef where we spotted turtles, stingrays and a variety of tropical fish.

Note: We were given a complimentary stay at this hotel. During this trip to the Maldives we were excited to dedicate a few days to exploring an inhabited island. Luau Beach Inn is located on picturesque Fulidhoo Island. Fringed by sweeping palms and crystal clear waters, the small island is an idyllic paradise. As we stepped off the speedboat onto the jetty, our host Linda greeted us with a warm hello and welcome to their beautiful island. We saw stingrays and nurse sharks leisurely swimming along the shores while we walked the short distance to the entrance.

Note: We were given a complimentary stay at this resort. Set in a picturesque clear blue lagoon, Sheraton Full Moon is a beautiful choice for your next Maldives getaway. The five star resort is just a short boat ride from the international airport and offers an abundance of five star facilities for all ages. Guests can choose from spacious beach bungalows just step from the crystal turquoise ocean or the romantic overwater villas complete with private plunge pool. There’s plenty to do at the resort from snorkelling along the reef to stand up paddle boarding and kayaking, or indulging in a luxurious day at the spa. Families can treat themselves and their children to massages and chocolate facials or drop their kids off at the fun filled interactive Kids Club. We loved that there was a variety of indoor and outdoor activities for little ones. Our children learned how to climb a coconut tree, watched a magician perform right on the beach, and made plenty of friends throughout the process.
