With its prime location at the foot of Rusutsu ski resort, the hotel offers easy access to world class skiing, snowboarding, and huge range of winter activities. Our spacious room was set over two floors featuring spectacular mountain views, a separate lounge, deep soaking tub, and a bedroom with three beds.
We loved the plethora of activities within Rusustu resort including relaxing onsens, a fun filled wave pool and water slide, vintage style carousel, an arcade and so much more. A huge highlight of our stay was a ride in the resort’s state of the art helicopter. The exhilarating experience took us to a deserted mountain top where we enjoyed unparalleled views of Mount Yotei and a glimpse of the winter wonderland from above.

Atrium
Set by the welcoming lobby of The Westin Rusutsu, Atrium is a welcoming and comfortable dining spot ideal for all day dining. We loved the stylish and relaxed establishment featuring soaring ceilings and stunning mountain views. The breakfast buffet was a highlight of our stay featuring many Japanese specialities, freshly baked pastries, and fragrant coffee and tea.
If you’re looking to try local fare make sure to check out their dinner buffet full of decadent seafood options and local meat. We couldn’t get enough of the delectable Hokkaido crab legs, juicy prawns, and melt in your mouth salmon sashimi. The made to order shabu shabu station was a perfect opportunity to try one of our favourite Japanese eats and our kids loved the many family friendly options. Make sure to check out their local wines and sakes to complete the delicious dining experience.
Japanese Restaurant Kazahana
We loved our traditional Japanese dining experience at Restaurant Kazahana. The cozy restaurant, set against The Westin Rusutsu’s stunning mountain backdrop, was the ideal spot to enjoy a family dinner. The menu featured a variety of delicious set menu options alongside an a la carte menu and plenty of child friendly fare. We decided to sample the Kazahana set which was comprised of a variety of local ingredients and Japanese specialities. Highlights included the delicate Shrimp with Greens and Vinaigrette “Miso”, the warming Japanese Clear Soup with Ice Fish and Egg Fish, the Rock Fish, Flounder and Octopus Sashimi, and the fragrant Simmered Conger Eel with Radish. Our kids loved the children’s set menu and delighted in sampling the traditional fare. Make sure to check out their extensive wine and sake list to complete the delicious meal.
