Thompson Central Park is an ideal choice for your family getaway in New York City. We visited on a weekend leading up to Christmas and had an unforgettable stay surrounded by holiday vibes and festive luxury. We loved the warm ambiance, sparkling Christmas Tree, and quick and efficient check-in process.

The modern elevators whisked us to our suite on the 17th floor which was beautifully designed, incorporating a cozy open space with a separate lounge and dining area, a large decadent bathroom, and a sumptuous king size bed. Staff consistently went out of their way to make us feel special, from welcoming treats for the kids to amazing recommendations on must see sights in the area.

Thompson is optimally located just a few minutes walk from Central Park. There you’ll find a plethora of playgrounds and green spaces for your family as well as ice skating at the iconic Wollman Rink. We were also only minutes from the famous Rockefeller Centre Christmas Tree, Bryant Park’s festive market, and our children’s favourite toy shop, FAO Schwarz. You’ll find yourself surrounded by delicious eateries from the popular Parker's located on the lobby level of the hotel to classic NYC must eat restaurants and food carts on every corner. If you’re craving retail therapy, all the shops and department stores of 5th Avenue are just down the street.

The grand and ambient Parker’s, located at the lobby level of the luxurious Thompson Central Park, is a classic NY spot for handcrafted cocktails and delicious fare. We loved the open and inviting space incorporating a long stylish bar, dim intimate lighting, and a grand piano centrepiece. Service was friendly and efficient ensuring we were served quickly after a long journey.

We loved the menu full of elevated American fare, highlights of which included the perfectly seasoned Steak Tartare with Dijon, Capers and Quail Egg, the insanely juicy Wagyu Sliders with Caramelized Onion Bacon Jam, Comeback Sauce and Truffle Cheese, the perfectly prepared Steak Frites with Compound Butter and Garlic Aioli and the indulgent Roasted Bone Marrow with Horseradish Gremolata and Grilled Country Bread.

Make sure to sample a few of their cocktails, our favourite being the “Come Fly with Me”, for an ideal nightcap after a day exploring New York City.

The five star hotel is located across the street from Central Park and just a short walk from 5th Avenue, the Upper East Side, and many of the iconic sights of the city. As soon as we entered through the revolving doors we were enveloped in a calm green sanctuary which felt worlds away from the buzzing busy streets. The friendly staff ensured we had a smooth and quick check-in process while we admired the abundance of indoor plants and natural stylish interiors that accented their cozy lobby.

After a fun day of exploring the Meatpacking District of NYC and shopping at Hudson Yards we were excited to visit Kamasu for a delicious Japanese dining experience. The small, sleek sushi spot is tucked away in the buzzing shopping centre and features both an interactive sushi bar and cozy tables perfect for a relaxed lunch or casual dinner. The menu focuses on Temaki, Japanese hand rolls, full of authentic flavours and innovative pairings, but the menu also features a variety of appetisers, Donburi, Maki and Futomaki.

As we were travelling with our two children we booked two connecting suites which was ideal for a family of four. Each suite was sleek and stylish incorporating a sumptuous bedroom and comfortable lounge space with a large desk, ideal for those who are working while they travel. The decadent bathroom included five star amenities and we loved the addition of the Nespresso coffee maker and state of the art water filter.
