Manisan, set at the beautiful Alaya Resort Ubud, is the perfect spot to delve into Balinese culture and flavours. Set amongst picturesque rice paddy fields and located in central Ubud, it’s an ideal dining destination for anyone staying in the area. We loved the ambient table setting and mouth-watering menu which included many vibrant traditional and local dishes. Book a corner table and ask for recommendations from the staff for an intimate date night featuring nostalgic Ubud scenery or check out their buffet night for a lively cultural experience. The highlight of the buffet evening is the traditional Balinese dance performance which incorporates a rich blend of culture and entertainment. The dancers put on an enchanting show and we loved that they are open to getting the audience involved.
Favourite dishes from the appetizer menu included the "Ayam Tangkap" Classic aceh dish using fried chicken tossed with pandan, curry leaves and chili, the "Gado Gado Salad" Mixed boiled vegetables with peanut sauce, tofu and bean curd, and the "Kacang Kalas" Long bean in coconut milk and Balinese bumbu.
For the main course we recommend the "Sate Sapi Pontianak" Beef satay marinated with sweet soya, coriander, candle nut and pineapple, the "Ayam Panggang Kalasan" Grilled Javanese poached chicken with coconut water infusion and Indonesian spices, and the "Balinese Fried Pork Ribs" Fried marinated pork ribs Balinese style with Balinese sambal matah. For dessert finish with their "Dadar Gulung Kombinasi" Indonesian crepe filled with coconut palm sugar and sweet black rice porridge, or the "Es Cendol" Rice flour pandan jelly mixed with jackfruit and avocado for a perfect end to the meal.
Great for families with children or a unique dinner night while staying in Ubud.
