Visiting an Abandoned Gold Mine! Empire Mine State Historic Park. Family Travel Grass Valley, CA.
While visiting the historic Holbrooke Hotel this fall, we decided to take a day trip to the Empire Mine State Park in Grass Valley, California. Located in the Sierra Nevada Mountains, this is a state-protected historic mine and California Historic Landmark. The Empire Mine s the site of one of the oldest, largest, and richest hard rock gold mines in California. Copper and tin miners from Cornwall England brought their expertise in hard rock mining and you will see the Cornish influence not only throughout the land. It was a very interesting day with some beautiful sites. I encourage you to make the trip if you are every around Grass Valley. If you would like to see our stay at the haunted Holbrooke Hotel, check out our vlog.
