Camping in the Smoky Mountains - Our First Encounter With A Bear At Elkmont Campground PART 1

Continuing our weekend tradition of exploring the Smoky Mountains National Park, we reserved a spot at the Elkmont Campground and explored the area. After checking in and setting up camp, we headed into the mountains along Jakes Creek Trail to find a hidden cabin, cut across Cucumber Gap Trail towards Huskey Branch Falls, and then took Little River Trail back down to the trailhead parking lot. Along the trail back, we came across our first black bear in the Smoky Mountains, which certainly sent our hearts racing. The bear was super calm, let us do our thing while he did his, and we went our own ways. Fun to see the wildlife and see them in their own habitat. Got back to camp just in time to see a huge owl perched up above the tent and ended the day with some s'mores 🙌🏻
