The Best Vegan and Vegetarian Restaurants in New York

Herve Mouyal

Being vegan is a choice, and it is sometimes difficult during a trip to find places that fit in with one's diet. Rest assured, many New Yorkers have been on this diet for several years, and it is now reflected on the menus of many restaurants in the Big Apple.

So I've tried to list a few New York addresses that I like very much. Have a good tasting!

By Chloe

One of my favorite addresses in Greenwich Village. The perfect mix between healthy, nourishing, and delicious... by CHLOE embodies naturalness and "it's good for the planet". Recipes created exclusively by their vegan chefs will reveal the secret of their slogan "eat well, eat with a purpose".

My advice: the Classic Vegan Burger and the Caesar Salad, two absolutely divine classics! And above all, treat yourself with their desserts. I love them every time!

The Butcher's Daughter

With three 100% vegan addresses, the foodies or instagramer will be delighted to discover each of the restaurants... Their pretty little terrace, their rustic decoration, and the super cozy atmosphere will welcome you to sweeten your meals! To take advantage of this setting, you will have the choice between bowls, salads, toast, and their inevitable smoothies.

Bakery Erin Mc Kennan

This bakery located in East Village is vegan and gluten-free and free of soy, corn, and nuts. So a lot of things have been eliminated, and it's still delicious! American baking, muffins, cookies, cake slices, cupcakes, and doughnuts are great classics. It is often breakfast that it is the most difficult to find gluten-free and dairy-free products, so this is a good place for anyone who wants a vegan and gluten-free breakfast in New York. We went there several times for breakfast and were never disappointed.

Beyond Sushi

The menu will make you drool... An address that I like a lot: Beyond Sushi, offers Japanese specialties in a vegan version, and it's excellent! If sushi and makis remain their specialty, you can also order spring rolls or noodles, all as good. You will enjoy these dishes in a home-made atmosphere. The dishes being prepared right before your eyes make it the ideal place to relax and get full of visits!

You can't miss Bareburger if you like burgers! This small chain owns several restaurants in New York and on the east coast of the USA. It offers two menus: a classic and a vegan one, knowing that you can easily find gluten-free options. The gluten-free buns are excellent. Taste the impossible burger, a burger with a 100% vegan steak. Probably the best vegan burger in New York. Feel free to add sweet potato fries to your burger, which are also excellent. It won't be a light meal, but you will enjoy it. As a bonus, most of the products used by Bareburger are organic.

I do not hesitate to advise you the Blossom, chic and vegan, will be perfect for a romantic dinner or a meal with your loved ones. This friendly place, where the staff is very welcoming, offers a varied and very appetizing menu! Everyone will find a dish for his taste!

Don't miss the Gnocchi and tiramisu, a real treat!

Double Zero

At Double Zero, you will find excellent pizzas. The dough can even be requested gluten-free. The gluten-free dough, as always, remains different, but in this case, it is really successful. I also fell in love with the ricotta made with macadamia nuts that I had on my pizza. It's always a pleasure to go there because it's a treat every time. It is certainly one of the best vegan and gluten-free pizzas in New York! Once again, it's located in East Village.

Avant Garden

This restaurant offers a refined and creative vegan cuisine in a beautiful setting. You can enjoy shared dishes at the table or the counter. It is expensive, but we have not regretted it. We took 4 different dishes, and that was enough. Each of the dishes had a lot of taste and flavors that were delicate and delicious: a real top-of-the-range vegan cuisine that will even give even non-vegan people the chance to go back to it! I ate the best cauliflower of my life. I didn't even know it was possible to achieve such a result.

Peacefood Cafe

In a warm and soothing setting, Eric and Peter, the two vegan chefs of this restaurant, will concoct wonderful dishes for you! On the menu: salads, soups, sandwiches, pizzas, and so much more... I recommend their delicious focaccia and dumplings that are to die for! Don't miss the dessert either. Their cheesecake is one of the best I've ever tasted!

Caravan of Dreams

This small restaurant offers a very diversified vegan menu. From tofu dishes to vegan pizzas and Mexican food, everyone will be satisfied. The atmosphere is pleasant and even has live music in the evenings for a relaxing moment with your friends.

There is a large room as well as a small terrace. The restaurant seems to have a lot of success because it is very crowded. Better to book before. No worries, the service is fast, the quantities are good, and the price is reasonable.

The Botanist

Le Botaniste is a 99% organic, vegan, and gluten-free restaurant chain created by Belgian chef Alain Coumont, also the founder of Le Pain Quotidien. There are three different addresses in New York. You can taste main courses, choose plates to share, compose your mezze... The hardest part was to choose! We ended up taking different things to taste a lot of things and found everything fine and delicious, including the desserts. There are also many natural wines at the Botanist's since the place also has a wine bar.

Whether you are vegan or not, don't hesitate to go to these restaurants because they all offer delicious food and dishes. I even assure you that you won't really see any difference. If you know other good addresses, please share them as a comment.

I have always needed to create and for the past 7 years I have been sharing my creativity by producing photo and video content for luxury hotels around the world as well as for brands. I don't like to stay in my comfort zone because I can get bored very quickly. I need to try new things because for each brand the speaking is different.
