Opinion: Rochester, New York Needs an In-N-Out Burger

Herbie J Pilato

I was born and raised during the 1960s and '70s in Rochester, New York, a few blocks from Brown Square Park and close to where now stands Frontier Field.

I come from a big Italian-American family, and the food my mother made, along with all my other relatives, was delicious and second to none. But every once in a while, we enjoyed a dinner out with the family, at places like Rocky's Grille, Infantino's, Bolo's Restaurant, Ackerman's on Lyell Avenue, and more.

However, we also enjoyed fast-food resturants, such as McDonald's, and Carrol's, which later was purchased by Burger King.

I now live in Los Angeles, which many consider the restaurant capital of the year. I don't know about that, but I do know that I have enjoyed California-based resturants like Fatburger, and In-N-Out, the latter of which this year is celebrating its 75th Anniversary.

With that said, I think the Rochester, New York community would welcome an In-N-Out restaurant of their own. I certainly would enjoy it with each trip back home to Rochester that I will make.
