According to MSN.com, BankPlus is the sole bank that caters to the residents of Pickens, Mississippi and it’s set to shutter its doors on December 15.

A Closer Look

Several Pickens residents gathered at the MLK Center to advocate against the area's BankPlus closing.

“I got three business accounts there,” said one citizen. “If the bank leaves, I’m going to have to transfer my money all the way to Durant of Canton and that’s going to cause a lot of hardship on me.”

The BankPlus Pickens location has been in operation since 2000. Mayor Paulette Moore said she learned the bank was shuttering due to its decrease in revenue.
