While services for CVS customers will be transferred to other locations, the company will still have eight other stores in Worcester (which is approximately one hour west of Boston).
CVS spokesperson Amy Thibault told MassLive that a range of factors influenced the decision to shutter the location.
Karen Lynch, CVS president and CEO, observed: “Our retail stores are fundamental to our strategy and who we are as a company....We remain focused on the competitive advantage provided by our presence in thousands of communities across the country, which complements our rapidly expanding digital presence."
The closing of the CVS in Worcester is representative of the increasing economic challenges of various business operations around the country.
