A Closer Look at the BK Closing in Macon
September 14, 2023, was the final day of operation for Burger King's location in Macon, approximately three hours northwest of St. Louis.
In May, Joshua Kobza, chief executive officer of Restaurant Brands International (RBI), Burger King's parent company, said that several closings were scheduled in hopes of saving profit margins. Apparently, 400 locations could end operation by December 2023.
Although there was a 12.3 percent increase in global same-store sales in the first quarter of 2023, locations that cannot reach sales objectives will be requested to shutter their doors.
As with other fast-food chains, and restaurants, as well as banks, and clothing retailers around the country, the shuttering of the Burker King location in Macon adds to the onslaught of various business closures of every sector across the country.
