(Aurora, Colo.) A 69-year-old Aurora man faces charges of dealing firearms without a license and possessing unregistered firearms.
Authorities accuse Timothy Taconi of dealing firearms without a license between August 2020 and February 2023, according to a federal indictment filed in February by the United States Attorney’s Office for the District of Colorado. He also allegedly possessed an unregistered silencer, according to the indictment.
The indictment alleges Taconi failed to register the silencer in the National Firearms Registration and Transfer Record. No other weaponry was listed. The silencer will be forfeited if Taconi is found guilty of the two charges.
Taconi pleaded not guilty on Feb. 28 and was released on a personal recognizance bond. He surrendered his passport as part of the bond conditions.
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) Denver Division handled the investigation. Assistant United States Attorneys Kelly Churnet and Rebecca Weber are handling the prosecution.
This case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods, a program bringing together local and federal law enforcement and communities to reduce gun violence.
