(Douglas County, Colo.) The Colorado Department of Transportation is hosting an open house on Oct. 25 to discuss a roundabout at the county line intersection on Colorado 83.

The department evaluated the traffic using the intersection of Colorado 83 and County Line/ Palmer Divide Avenue from October 2021 through January, and officials already hosted one open house to discuss the project over the summer.

CDOT will hold the event from 5:30 to 7 p.m. on Oct. 25 in the commons area at Monument Academy Middle School (east campus), 4303 Pinehurst Circle, Colorado Springs. The Project Manager plans to have an open discussion with attendees from 5:30 to 6 p.m.

Attendees can review materials and provide written comments from 6 to 7 p.m. The open house will have stations showing a detailed design of the roundabout intersection, traffic data in the area and the performance of the roundabout, and videos about driving roundabouts.

The project is currently in the design phase. Funding hasn’t been identified for the final design and project construction.

A temporary traffic signal was installed to help mitigate higher amounts of traffic during construction of the I-25 South Gap Monument to Castle Rock project. The intersection does not typically have enough traffic to warrant a signal, and to keep traffic moving, officials are advocating for a roundabout.
