(Castle Rock, Colo.) Police named a suspect in connection to a house fire and what the department is calling a “suspicious” death in Terrain last week. The suspect was previously named a person of interest on April 27.

On April 29, Castle Rock Police named Matthew Buchanan, 32, as a suspect in the house fire and resulting death. Buchanan was last seen driving a white Dodge minivan with a Colorado temporary license plate of 3964372. Anyone who sees him or the vehicle is asked to call the Castle Rock Police Department at 303-663-6100.

A warrant for Buchanan’s arrest was issued regarding his involvement in the death of his mother, Elizabeth Bjorlow, 59, of Castle Rock.

According to the Castle Rock Police Department, Buchanan’s whereabouts are unknown and he may be traveling outside of Colorado. Authorities do not believe he is in the Castle Rock area.

Castle Rock Police Chief Jack Cauley said the incident shook the community.

“Our main focus is locating the suspect,” Cauley said. “We are working with multiple agencies across the region and following up on every possible lead. Anyone who has information regarding the suspect is asked to call police.”
