(Douglas County, Colo.) When voters get their primary ballots in June, a familiar name won’t be on the Republican ballot.

Douglas County Sheriff Tony Spurlock is retiring after a 43-year law enforcement career, including eight years as Douglas County Sheriff.

The June 28 primary ballots will include four Republican candidates and one Libertarian. Voters will choose the new sheriff in November.

Republican candidates:

Libertarian candidate Darren Hill did not respond to requests for comment.

(Douglas County, Colo.) A Douglas County man received a 97-year prison term for shooting his sister, her boyfriend and their dog on Feb. 8, 2022.
