(Douglas County, Colo.) When voters get their primary ballots in June, a familiar name won’t be on the Republican ballot.
Douglas County Sheriff Tony Spurlock is retiring after a 43-year law enforcement career, including eight years as Douglas County Sheriff.
The June 28 primary ballots will include four Republican candidates and one Libertarian. Voters will choose the new sheriff in November.
Republican candidates:
- John Anderson, retired from the Castle Rock Police Department in 2018 after 40 years of service
- Holly Kluth, former Douglas County Undersheriff and career law enforcement officer
- Lora Thomas, Douglas County Commissioner and former Douglas County Coroner and Colorado State Patrol Trooper
- Darren Weekly, Douglas County Sheriff’s Office captain, SWAT team commander, K-9 handler
Libertarian candidate Darren Hill did not respond to requests for comment.
