Upcoming Michigan Festivals for the first week in June

Summer is here, and festivals are starting. With so many returning, I will be updating the list for you weekly. Here are the upcoming Michigan festivals for the first week in June for you to enjoy with your family.

Highland Fest 6/5 - Saint Ignace

Right across the Mackinac Bridge, you will find a brand new summer kickoff event in Saint Ignace. The event is free and is at Little Bear East Arena & Community Center. Beer tent and live music included. The Highland Games Registration opens at 10 a.m. on Little Bear grounds, with the games from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. You can watch Highland Games that include the Caber Toss, Hammer, Sheaf, and Stone games.

Come and celebrate a massive milestone at Blake’s Orchard & Cider Mill the first weekend in June. The anniversary celebration in June is just the beginning of a series of special events planned through the rest of the year. Over the past 75 years, their continued commitment to the community, environment and have passion for providing visitors with a memorable family experience is what makes coming to Blake’s year after year a family tradition. During the weekend, Your admission will cover Funland, Animal Farm, Train Rides & 25+ Family-Friendly Activities will be available along with FREE doughnut & cups of cider. You will also get discounts on the famous Cider Mill doughnuts and sweet apple cider. Plus, enjoy the live music throughout the weekend. The release of Blake's Hard Cider Co. 75th Anniversary Hard Cider will occur over the weekend for you to try. And on Saturday and Sunday, enjoy the pig races, and fireworks show along with giveaways. Living History Timeline 6/5-6/6 - Chesterfield

If you love history re-enactments, you have to visit Chesterfield Historic Village the first weekend in June where history comes alive. You will be able to see historians in period clothing, encampments and displays that will tell the story of Macomb County’s history, from the early days of the fur trade through the war on global terrorism. Among the participants is Ste. Claire Voyageurs, 1750 era French fur trade reenactors, Revolutionary War, WWI, WWII, Vietnam and more. The Chesterfield Historic Village is at 47275 Sugarbush Road. A donation of $1 per person or $2 per family is suggested.

12th Annual Lyon Township International Kite Festival 6/5-6/6 - New Hudson

The 12th Annual Lyon Township Kite Festival will be held Saturday, June 5th from 10 a.m.- 6 p.m. and Sunday, June 6th from 11 a.m.- 3 p.m. at James Atchison Park, 58000 Grand River Avenue in New Hudson. Admission for the festival is $5 per vehicle. You will see kite flying professionals from all over the world hosted by John Trennepohl, Owner of Kites & Fun Things in Plymouth, Michigan. He and other kite teams will showcase their award-winning skills and techniques, choreographed to music. At 3 p.m. on Saturday, you can be a part of the Mass Ascension, where an exciting countdown leads to hundreds of kites in the air, taking flight together! Make sure to bring your kite! Kids will get a FREE kite while supplies last to customise, with their own decorations. The International Kite Festival will have something for the entire family, including Professional Kite Flyers Shows, Festival Food, Live Entertainment, Magician Jonathan Chance, Kids Games & Crafts, Climbing Wall, Toddler Bouncers, Live Animal Presentations, Cars on Display, Face Painter, and Vendor Booths.
