Sunshine, music, and mini-golf. Can you want more?
Everything about this day was perfection, although it did not start that way. It was a Sunday, and I was feeling the blues.
My son called me up and asked me if I was free to venture out with him. I asked him what he had in mind? He stated he wasn't sure yet and would get back to me. My mind wandered as to what he thought was fun. I was not really in the mood for much. I was basking in what I considered my justified misery. However, we have two loves in common- taking drives to new places and cranking the rock and roll.
I don't know how anyone can remain unhappy when good music is playing. My son, only 24, has the best repertoire of songs. He blows me away with his setlist. From Presley to Pearl Jam and decades in between, he knows the hits!
Soon after, I received a text message asking me what I thought about going to Lighthouse Cove Adventure Golf in Jupiter.
My first thought was not one of enthusiasm, but I figured I would be with my son, I could get out of town, and the music would be outstanding. So I agreed.
I also let my son navigate while I drive. He is much like me in the fact he likes to check out new roads, paths untaken.
Lighthouse Cove is on A1A in Jupiter. We began our journey in Stuart and took the road through Port Salerno, Hobe Sound, and Jupiter Island. I suggest in life always choose the slower route.
This allows you to take in the surroundings. We passed book nooks, antique stores, art galleries, and coffee shops. Although many were closed on a Sunday, we now have more on our bucket list.
As you get closer to Jupiter, A1A runs right along the ocean. Earlier I was sitting home alone reviewing the sad song in my head when others were gleefully enjoying the Atlantic Ocean's playground. What a fool I was.
With the sun high in the sky, the surfers and their boards, the lovers holding hands, the doggies prancing blissfully, I had no choice but to smile!
We finally pulled into Lighthouse Cove Adventure Golf, and I know this sounds silly, but even the parking lot was grinning. The large palms that lined the walkway reminded me that this is why I live here- 365 days of green lush foliage.
We walked into the main area to purchase our tickets. The two young teens behind the county were more than friendly. That's a nice treat in itself.
Ice cream is sold in the lobby if one Is interested, but we were more interested in The Burger Shack, the newly renovated restaurant.
There are 2 min golf courses to choose from, but in my opinion, I would pick BOTH. Paradise Falls and Lost Lagoon.
I took a break after Paradise Falls. Although it is a mini-course, I didn’t want to wear myself out too much. My son is highly competitive, and I needed to refuel.
On-premise is The Burger Shack, an open-air restaurant which made the experience even better. If you are like me and do not want to look at the big screen t.vs, you have the option to view the lush landscape. And get this genius idea, they have a playground adjacent to the Shack. This means you can watch the game, have one of the 15 locally crafted tap beers and keep an eye on the kids as they exert their energy on the swings and not the waitress.
The kids will eventually want to settle down and eat, and you will be happy to know the menu includes items like mac and cheese, hot dogs, and sliders. The food options for adults range from Salads to NY Strip. I promise any picker eater will find something to satisfy their hunger as the variety is superb.
I had a tough time deciding what I wanted. I eventually chose the Caprese Salad with ripe red tomatoes and fresh mozzarella. I was not disappointed. It was just enough to supply me with nutritious greens to tackle the next course, Lost Lagoon.
Back to Golfing.
I cannot overemphasize the beauty of these 2 courses. When someone cares about their business, it shows! Each hole has a unique ambiance. Some are secluded, surrounded by large tropical plants, while others are open to waterfalls and bridges.
The best surprise came on the 14th hole of the Lost Lagoon. I will not spoil it for you. Just go!
Below is the price list, and to be honest with you, I have paid more at places that do not match the allurement located at 617 N A1A.
