How Did Beyonce and Jay-Z Find Their home?
Beyonce and Jay-Z had been living on rent for three years before they splurged on their $88 million family home. As pop music royalty, the couple has never been strapped for cash, considering they have a combined net worth of $1.9 billion.
The couple's previous residences include a home in New Orleans, which covered an area of 13,000 square feet, and used to be a church. Accordingly, it had beautiful architecture, with tall ceilings and lofty windows. They then shifted to a gorgeous coastal villa in Malibu, and this is also where Beyonce had her twins, Rumi and Sir.
Of course, these rentals were not cheap or simple by any means. Living in Malibu cost the couple nearly $400,000 per month, for a stunning mansion with 15 bedrooms and 10 bathrooms. Before finally moving into their Bel Air residence, they also spent $800,000 on renovations.
The Mansion’s Original Residents
Beyonce and Jay-Z's property in Bel Air spans about 1.88 acres, and initially used to feature a colonial revival-style house. In 2013, one of its previous buyers had this 9,000 square feet residence torn down, and replaced with the modern mansion that the couple eventually moved into.
The Carters' stunning hillside residence is the epitome of luxury. It features eight bedrooms, eleven bathrooms, bulletproof windows, a home cinema, four swimming pools, a 15-car garage, and many more extras. The home is also technologically up-to-date, appropriate for its modern exterior – to open the glass walls, you only have to touch a button. The property has a total of six residences, which together make 30,000 square feet of living space.
The couple paid for their new residence with an initial payment of $30 million, completing the rest in mortgages. The renovations they did before moving in included a backup generator, and the addition of another living area under the pools.
Its Luxurious Interior Design
A few years ago, Beyonce posted an Instagram of Jay-Z and P Diddy sitting inside their home, to celebrate the latter’s birthday. The photo is one of the few insights we've gotten about the Carters' taste in interior design, and it looks tasteful and luxurious.
In the photo, Jay Z and P Diddy are seen seated on a plush blue velvet sofa, embellished with golden accents and decorated with matching blue cushions. The floor is a soft grey carpet, and the background features a set of glossy silver panels, as well as what looks like a wooden panel off to one side.
Another look we’ve got into their home is an Instagram photo Beyonce posted in 2019, in what appears to be her walk-in wardrobe or dressing room. The photo features the celebrity posing in an Adidas bodysuit, with over a hundred pairs of sneakers on the floor surrounding her. The backdrop – as seen through floor-to-ceiling windows – is a stunning view of the California landscape. You can see a number of green trees, and in the distance, the orange sun setting in the horizon, making for some gorgeous scenery.
Four Swimming Pools
The swimming pools are arguably one of the most stunning features of Beyonce and Jay-Z's mansion. The star has also previously shared a photo of their rooftop pool.
The photo features an infinity pool with placid blue waters, reflecting the clear sky above, as well as a large fire-pit bordered by luxurious grey sofas. Beyonce can be seen lying face-down on one of the sofas in a matching grey outfit, while the background consists of an outdoor bar that has wooden chairs and another firepit. The bar and the sofas have a concrete ceiling overhead, as protection from the harsh sun or adverse weather conditions, and the infinity pool looks out onto another gorgeous view of the landscape.
The estate's two other pools are located on the first floor of the residence, on either side of a massive staircase leading up to the main house. The final pool covers the entire length of the ground floor, sure to dazzle any incoming guests.
