If you follow the community of creators, streamers, and other internet entrepreneurs, you might know that many from the community (including some huge names like Joe Rogan) are thinking about moving to Austin or have already done so. That says a lot about how cool the city is.

Over time, some of these creators will add to the long list of renowned celebrities living in Austin. Here are five of the celebrities that are Austinites at present.

Sandra Bullock

Sandra Bullock is an Oscar-winning American actress and producer. Besides having had the distinction of being the world’s highest-paid actress, she has also been named People’s Most Beautiful Woman (2015) and included in Time’s 100 Most Influential People in the World (2010).

Bullock’s big breakthrough came in 1994 when she played Annie Porter in the blockbuster Speed alongside Keanu Reeves. That was seven years after she made her acting debut in 1987.

Around fifteen years and many successful movies later, she won the Academy Award for Best Actress for her role as Leigh Anne Tuohy in the movie, The Blind Side (2009).

Bullock has also produced several movies, including Miss Congeniality and All About Steve.

Among the different properties and businesses Bullock owns in Austin is Walton’s Fancy and Staple — a bakery, restaurant, and floral shop.

Lance Armstrong

Lance Armstrong is a former professional road racing cyclist from America.

After starting his career as a professional cyclist with the Motorola team in 1992, Armstrong went on to win seven Tour de France titles — the most in the event’s history — between 1998 and 2005 and a bronze medal in the 2000 Summer Olympics.

Unfortunately, in 2012, he was found to have used certain substances that were banned, and consequently, all his titles were taken away from him.

Having successfully battled a potentially fatal cancer, Armstrong founded the Lance Armstrong Foundation — now known as the Livestrong Foundation (based in Austin) — dedicated to raising awareness of cancer and helping people affected by it.

Armstrong also owns a coffee shop called Juan Pelota Cafe and a bike shop named Mellow Johnny’s in downtown Austin.

Matthew McConaughey

Born in Uvalde, Texas, Matthew McConaughey is an Oscar-winning American actor and producer.

Having started his acting career with a number of supporting roles in movies like Dazed and Confused and Angels in the Outfield, McConaughey needed only a few years to gain recognition for his work and has now played both leading and supporting roles in some popular and critically acclaimed movies like Interstellar, The Wolf of Wall Street, and Dallas Buyers Club.

The actor won the Academy Award for Best Actor for his portrayal of Ron Woodroof in Dallas Buyers Club (2013).

McConaughey lives in Austin with his wife, Camila Alves. He a minority owner of Austin FC, Major League Soccer team. And he also teaches at the University of Texas, Austin.

Recently, McConaughey stated that he is considering running for governor of Texas in 2022.

Andy Roddick and Brooklyn Decker

Andrew Roddick is a former professional tennis player from the United States who, at his peak, was the top-ranked player in the world.

Roddick won his only Grand Slam title and became the US Open champion in 2003. He also made it to the Wimbledon finals thrice — in 2004, 2005, and 2009.

In 2017, the tennis star was inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame.

Although Roddick was born in Omaha, he spent several years of his childhood in Austin, where he lives today with his wife, Brooklyn Decker.

Decker is a model and actress. She made her feature film debut in Just Go with It (2011) — her husband Andy Roddick made a cameo appearance in the film too — and has worked in several films since.

Austin is the home of many more celebrities like Richard Linklater, Dan Rather, and Connie Britton. I won’t be surprised if you have already bumped into some of them. But even if you have not, it’s just a matter of time.
