No matter where you are in the country, whenever you pass a Chick-fil-A restaurant, there’s almost always a drive-through line curving out into the road. Sure, this isn’t great for traffic (or for traffic planners that have to deal with it), but for lovers of the chicken sandwiches for sale, whenever a new Chick-fil-A pops up, it’s always good news. And for locals in Flagstaff (or for those traveling through), a new location is preparing itself to be ready for hungry customers sooner rather than later.
If you’ve driven past the intersection of Fourth Street and East Route 66 (2405 Route 66), you’ve likely noticed all the construction going on at the corner, as well as the prominent Chick-fil-A sign hanging around the protective fencing. Work began back in August, and while the construction nears completion, you might be wondering when in the world the restaurant will be open and ready for business.
Building such a restaurant from scratch does take time. With the specially designed filtration system now installed, the rest of the interior is quickly being assembled, and the building will look like a completed structure in the coming days. In fact, for anyone interested in work, the Chick-fil-A location will begin hiring this month.
With the hiring practice starting up, the actual opening of the restaurant is currently penciled in for the very beginning of 2024 (most likely January, although it could be pushed back into February).
For those who enjoy the food offered by Chick-fil-A, this will be a welcome addition to the Flagstaff food scene. Outside of the main Milton Road location, which has been open for the better part of a decade now, there is only a smaller satellite location on the campus of Northern Arizona University, and unless you are enrolled or are a staff member, chances are you have never set foot in that restaurant (or even seen it). There was a brief third location inside the Flagstaff Mall, but a location with a drive-through has long been in demand.
Now, with a new location right around the corner, it will finally be the opportunity for locals and travelers to grab a chicken sandwich. The restaurant brand has a long history, although it has only recently moved into Arizona in the last decade or so. Since opening in the 1940s, Chick-fil-A remained located in the Southeastern United States for the better part of its history. Hopefully, the new addition in Flagstaff will be additional locations will open in the future.
