Some restaurant space remains vacant for months, if not years at a time, while other openings are flipped, renovated, and rented out by new establishments in the blink of an eye. If you haven’t driven by a particular restaurant for a few weeks you might suddenly see something completely new. That is exactly what happened for one downtown establishment in greater Phoenix. After all, when the majority of major sports are in full competition mode, it represents a prime opportunity for casual eateries.
Just last month, Matty G’s Steakburgers & Lobsta Rolls closed up shop in an effort to downsize the brand as the owner continues to deal with health issues. The downtown Chandler location represented prime real estate for a new restaurant, which is exactly why The DTC Sports Grille swooped in and wasted no time getting the space ready to go. Now, just a few weeks after the previous restaurant vacated the building, the sports grille and bar is now open and ready to serve hungry sports fans.
Located at 55 West Chicago Street, the new restaurant is open 11 AM until 10 PM Sunday through Thursday, and 11 AM until 11 PM on Friday and Saturday (it will be closed next Thursday for the Thanksgiving holiday).
There is a little bit of something for everyone on The DTC Sports Grille menu. Appetizers include sliders, cheese curds, DTC Loaded Fries (crisp fries, poblano cheese sauce, chicken or carne, queso, tomatoes, black olives, jalapenos, topped with a black bean corn salsa, sour cream, and sala on the side), steakhouse onion rings, DTC Housemade Chicken Tenders, avocado bites, buffalo shrimp, and pretzels.
Hungry for a burger? There are several smash burgers, including the All American Smash (burger topped with secret sauce, American cheese, butter lettuce, tomato, and onions), Arizona Smash (jalapeno aloe, bacon jam, cowboy candy, lettuce tomato), bacon smash, and BBQ smash. You can also order the Philly Cheesesteak or Chicken Philly, plus DTC Trifecta Wings, which are chicken wings grilled, baked, then fried, after marinating for 24 hours in the chef’s secret sauce. Additional sauces include mild, DTC Diablo, brown sugar BBQ, and sweet heat. Wings come in both six and 10 pieces.
DTC Signature menu items include Cajun Shrimp Mac & Cheese (noodles tossed in a housemade poblano cheese sauce and served with a Cajun rubbed and pan-seared shrimp, then topped with Jack cheese and panko bread crumbs), Shrimp Tacos, Crispy Chicken Wrap, and Lettuce Wraps.
